Grateful gains and goals

I started my weight loss journey a little over 40 weeks (about 9 months) ago!  I struggled most of my life with maintaining a healthy weight.  I would get frustrated during my times of weight loss because it wasn't consistent or instantaneous!  I started my GLP-1 program at 210 lbs!  Today I am 172!  Yes, that is about 1.5 lbs. down each week!

This did not come without setbacks and challenges though!  We are doing this to not just lose weight but to change our relationship with food and maintain a healthy lifestyle that will be sustainable!  Some of the challenges I faced were, perimenopause weight gain, grief with the loss of my sister, injury, job change and a move!

I started with an attainable Goal!  I do not have an exact weight in my head that I want to attain.  I keep creating small attainable goals so that I can have that constant success!  My first goal was to be down a dress size!  I started at a size 18, well let's be honest, I was shoving myself into a 16 because I did not want to admit I needed to yet again, buy a bigger size!  Today at 37lbs down, I am comfortably in a size 14!  My next goal is to be a 10!

Then I focused on the Gains!  I gained more mobility!  I gained a better understanding of my eating habits, both positive and negative.  I assessed my eating obstacles.  My biggest obstacles were emotional eating, not stopping when I was full, portion control!  Changing all of that immediately would have set myself up for failure!  So, the first goal I set was learning it was okay to stop eating when I was full.  Yes, I know my mama told me to “finish my plate”, but that is just not the best! I went and  got a great Tupperware set and as soon as I was full, I put the rest of my plate in the container for another time!  My next Goal was cutting out items that were an obstacle!  Sugar!  It was hard, but I cut out sugar in my coffee, no longer bought soda and found alternatives to desserts!  Portion control will be my next focus!

Finally, I practiced gratitude!  I am grateful for making myself and my health a priority!  I am grateful for Altranais Wellness.   It's their customized approach to support each client as they need it that really got me to embrace this process!

It's because of this gratitude and success, with some reasonable setbacks, that I want to share some remarkable stories, tips, recipes and have an open conversation about how we can go through this journey together!  Honestly it's only because of the support of Altranais Wellness that I was able to be this consistent!

Each week I will share my Grateful Gains and Goals with you as we travel through this healthy journey together!

Gratefully,

Kristen (GLP-1 user and Altranais Wellness client)
