Grateful Gains and Goals: A Weight Loss Journey with Heart

A little over 40 weeks ago, I took a bold step to prioritize my health and began my weight loss journey. Like many, I’ve struggled for most of my life to maintain a healthy weight. My previous attempts often left me frustrated because the results weren’t consistent or instantaneous. But this time was different—I committed to a sustainable approach.

When I started my GLP-1 program, I weighed 210 lbs. Today, I’m at 172 lbs—an average loss of about 1.5 lbs per week! Progress like this didn’t come without its challenges, but with the right mindset and support, I’ve made strides not just in weight loss but in reshaping my relationship with food and embracing a healthier lifestyle.

Overcoming Life’s Challenges

This journey hasn’t been without its setbacks. Life threw me curveballs, including perimenopause weight gain, grieving the loss of my sister, an injury, a job change, and even a move. But through it all, I stayed focused on my ultimate goal: not just to lose weight, but to create a sustainable, healthier way of living.

The Power of Small, Attainable Goals

I learned early on that setting small, realistic goals leads to lasting success. Instead of aiming for an arbitrary number on the scale, I focused on milestones that felt achievable.

My first goal? Drop a dress size. I started out squeezing into a size 16, even though I probably needed an 18. Today, 37 pounds lighter, I comfortably wear a size 14, and my next goal is to rock a size 10!

Celebrating the Gains

Weight loss is about so much more than the number on the scale. Along the way, I gained:

  • Mobility: Everyday activities feel easier, and I have more energy.

  • Self-awareness: I’ve learned so much about my eating habits, both the good and the bad.

  • Resilience: Tackling emotional eating, portion control, and stopping when I’m full were some of my biggest challenges.

Changing everything at once would have been overwhelming, so I focused on one step at a time. For example, my first hurdle was emotional eating. I realized it’s okay to stop eating when I’m full—something my mama didn’t exactly teach me! Instead of feeling guilty for leaving food on my plate, I started packing leftovers for another meal. That simple change made a huge difference.

Next, I tackled sugar. Cutting it out of my coffee, skipping soda, and finding healthier dessert alternatives wasn’t easy, but it was worth it. My next focus? Mastering portion control!

Practicing Gratitude

Gratitude has been a cornerstone of this journey. I’m so thankful for making my health a priority and for the unwavering support of Altranais Wellness. Their personalized approach made all the difference, helping me embrace this process and stick with it, even during tough times.
